In 1838 son John is recorded as building a chapel on his land in Plumpton Green. The land was owned by Henry Hyder of Hurstpierpoint. Henry married John's sister Ann.
Ann's will mentions Elizabeth widow of John and a brother James and his children.

The 1841 census records an Elizabeth Walder, a '60' year old school mistress living in proximity of the location of John's chapel. (184173).
She could be the Elizabeth who was buried in 1847 aged 75 at Ditchling Baptist Meeting House, the resting place for John, his parents and sister.
