Tom was born in East Budleigh, Devon in 1861.
Annie came from Ottery St Mary, some 7 miles away. Tom was a plasterer by trade and by the age of 19 he had found his way to London and was living with his elder brother David and his family in Chelsea. David was also a plasterer. His sister Elizabeth, a dressmaker, was also resident. Thomas returned to Devon to marry and most of his family were raised there. Sometime after 1896 there was a permanent move to Wimbledon, Surrey. Tom died of flu in 1918, age 56, his occupation was now a 'coal trimmer'. Annie lived on until 1929. |
